These stories are provided by our CBF collaborator and their church community in Cuba.

This is Nirza and two of her great-grandchildren, orphans of a father who died from a lightning strike less than a year ago.
As a result of this event, the children's mother developed schizophrenia and Nirza, who is a member of our church and is 82 years old, has had to take care of both the children and their mother.
In the midst of an economic situation of extreme poverty, the hurricane completely destroyed their home and without a systematic monetary income, they now have nowhere to live or anything to eat.
These four people have "seen the open sky with their daily plate of food and are amazed at how the church has shown interest in getting them out of the hunger in which they had been suffering since the hurricane."
Between tears and painful emotions, they gave thanks again and again to all the people who provided food for them and so many others.
Let us not stop praying for the thousands of families who on our sister island suffer from hunger and extreme need.

This is Alexis, a neighbor of our church and he was left homeless after the hurricane that completely destroyed his home. He had very little and lost the little he had due to the hurricane.
Alexis lives with his wife, who suffers from squamous cell carcinoma undergoing radiation. They are currently staying at a relative's house where there is literally no space for them. They do not have the resources or economic possibilities to build a home, no matter how humble it may be.
They feel very happy and grateful, expressing that "if it weren't for these foods, hunger and poor nutrition would kill us faster."
Despite not being Christians, they have seen the concern of the church who have come to them to help, support and show love. "They thank each of the people who have made these acts of mercy possible in the midst of so much desolation and need."
Let us not stop praying for those who will know God in the midst of the pain of life.
