Theological Scholarships

Annual deadline for applications is May 1st. ​

The Lucy Smith Endowment for Theological Education provides scholarship support for any educational endeavor that can be shown to enhance the recipient's ministry within the Baptist community of faith. Awards are made each semester, but there is only one annual application needed per person.

Eligibility

• Be connected to Florida or the Caribbean Islands through birth, residence, or college education

• Be a member of a CBF partner congregation or have demonstrated support for CBF initiatives

• Be currently enrolled in an ATS-approved masters or doctoral program not supplemented by the SBC​

• Biographical information

• Call to faith in Christ

• Sense of vocational calling

• Core Baptist beliefs

• Relationship to CBF

• Letters of references emailed to tsnyder@cbf.net (3 letters of reference: 1 ministerial, 2 professional) attesting to the following: 

  • Potential for local church leadership

  • Emotional and spiritual maturity

  • Christian commitment

  • Interpersonal skills

The Representative Assembly awards scholarships annually with preference given to students pursuing a practical masters degree in theological education. Scholarship funds are released pending confirmation of the student’s enrollment. It is preferred that the recipient be present at the annual Spring Celebration to receive the scholarship.​​
